Search and Destroy (1979)

Whew! Not what I expected. Preparing myself to watch another post-apocalyptic / escape from new york / road warrior rip off....this was everything but that! I must say it was absolutely better than I what I expected, with solid acting, intriguing plot, and a throbbing synth soundtrack that would have made John Carpenter jealous. I read that this was a pre-cursor to First Blood, but I didn't see that comparison anywhere, other than both films had their origins in Vietnam. I think I enjoyed this film far more than First Blood...at least this film was not predictable.

With an ending that pretty much equals "anti-climatic", but it seemed fitting...hmmm..yeah. I totally dug it.

By the way, the video artwork displayed on the VHS tape above has nothing do with the actual film at all! Gotta love 80's marketing! woo!
